It's the dream isn't it? To say screw it, pick up your backpack and head out into the woods whenever you damn well please. I mean it's your life isn't it? ISN'T IT?? But then again, we've got responsibilities, a 9-5, a grocery list to make... so, really, who's got the time?
You do. Here at Wandering Bison we don't just make badass candles. We make badass candles to inspire you to get outside. We make them to help you recall your favorite adventures and to help jump-start new ones. But freedom? It doesn't just happen. You've got to build that shit into your life. So how do you do that? Let me lay it down:
1. Schedule your time
Guys. If you don't control your time it will control you. Life is too flipping short to let precious minutes slip away from you just because you weren't aware enough to be intentional with them. If you feel like you don't have enough freedom in your life, it's because you're not scheduling enough freedom in your life. Use your iCal, get a planner, or write it on a freaking napkin, but whatever you do, don't let your days slip away. Need help? Hit a girl up. I'm always down to preach that planning gospel.
2. Plan activities every day
Now that you've got your schedule game on point. Plan an activity EVERY DAY. Did you hear that? Every flipping day. Even if it feels small. Do you know what a 30 minute trail run is? Freedom. How about some time at the dog park playing with your pup? Freedom. Or what about that backpacking trip you've been meaning to do? It's a fresh dose of freedom, y'all. So get to planning.
3. Set goals
Listen up, because this is a big one: if you don't set goals... it's probably not going to happen. It's just like scheduling your time. If you don't plan your future, your future isn't going to happen. Start small and plan your next road trip, or go big and plan a 365 day tour around the world. I don't care. But if you don't plan it, you won't do it. Seriously, your future is in your hands, so make it happen.
Money isn't everything but it ain't nothing either. The truth is you probably need some amount of money to do the things you want to do. So set your priorities and have some discipline. It'll pay off.
5. Cultivate Gratitude
You're going to hate me for this one, but ultimately freedom can be found in everyday moments. Instead of looking at what you don't have or looking at what that Instafamous person does have, start appreciating what you DO have. I challenge you to list one good thing that happened every day and how that promotes freedom in your life. You can find it, I promise.
What about you? How do you build freedom in your life? Let me know below!
